Happy 7th Day of Christmas and New Year’s Eve!  Yesterday, someone asked me if I awoke to six geese a laying? Not so much, but with the rain we are having in Auburn, seven swans a swimming is not out of the question.

Tonight, we put this year to rest and invite in a new one. Many experienced great pain and loss. I am mindful of names like Carr Fire, Camp Fire, Florence, and Michael that have radically altered people’s lives. War torn countries around the world still touch us. Balancing this are fun memories with our kids; their first trip to Disney World, pictures with Santa, a new tooth, finishing the first semester of college or graduating high school, weddings and anniversaries.

I am having fun using my new Christmas gifts and seeing the gifts I gave being used. God gave his greatest gift, his son, and one of our most quoted versus, John 3:16 comes to mind. Gold, frankincense, and myrrh offered by the Magi seem out of place until we see their meaning. Gold for the King Jesus will become, frankincense offered by a Priest, and myrrh for the great sacrifice He will make.

Wrapping up this year gives us another moment of giving. ARM is setting our new goals as we continue our journey and movement to end substandard housing in Alabama and make Sweet Homes for all our residents. Jesus’ family knew what it was like to be shut out and to be displaced. He hurts with those who have no homes or make tough choices between a new roof or heater and enough food on the table. I hope you will continue journeying with us to make substandard housing in Alabama a thing of the past.

If you would like to make a final gift for 2018 you can do so by check or online. Checks can be mailed today to P.O. Box 2890 or give electronically at www.arm-al.org or text “Give” to (334) 459-9366

Grace and peace,

Lisa and ARM team
