IMG_2154We were so grateful to have a team of students from Auburn University’s building science program serve with us this semester. They were given two big jobs on our Maple St Home in Tuskegee: making vital roof framing repairs and rebuilding the front porch. Of course, we’re not surprised that they have done great work!

The roof is now ready to be felted and shingled and the front porch is just waiting for a fresh coat of paint. We plan on getting started on these next steps during our upcoming community service days, the MLK Great Days of Service, on Saturday January 17th and Monday January 19th. Click the link above to find out how you can help us continue the renovation of the Maple St. home as well as serve several other families in the Lee and Macon county area through home repair.

And in case you don’t know, the Maple St home is one of our very special projects. It was an abandoned home in Tuskegee that was acquired and donated to us for complete renovation. After the work is complete, we hope to either rent or sell the home to a veteran’s family in the Tuskegee area.

We can’t do this work without your support. As the end of the year draws near and we celebrate the birth of Christ our Savior, we invite you to consider how you can join us in our efforts to end sub-standard housing in rural Alabama.
