After attending a funeral for one of our home owners and preparing for a large day of home repair this weekend with My Jerusalem, why we sit in a shack becomes evermore meaningful.

Ms. Turk, with whom we are highlighting directly during Sweet Homes for Alabama, lost her sister last week. Ms. Mae was super special and we were also working on her home and almost finished. It breaks my heart that Ms. Mae did not experience the completion of her home. I guess she gets to see it now from a heavenly view. Attending her funeral and listening to Ms. Turk share her stories of the love of her sister was tender and special. Ms. Mae will be greatly missed.

Anticipation also awaits us as we get ready to serve with Shane Kyles and our friends from Way 2 Serve Ministries and their semi-annual My Jerusalem project. Together, we will serve about 30 families and ARM has five of those homeowners. Our student group, ARM@AU is serving and a team from Evans, Georgia from Lewis Memorial Church is also joining us for the weekend. It will be a huge day of doing good works for the glory of God!

Living in the shack connects us with the hardships of needing major repairs but not always having the funds to do costly repairs. We all know the number of repairs we have to do as home owners. Imagine if our monthly income was under $1000/month and we lived alone. What options would we have? We are thankful for groups serving that are so faithful, so full of love, and give these incredible families hope. It always touches my heart.

It’s one week away and I am getting excited! Here is how you can help us spread the word:
