It’s a small world. This morning a college aged student stopped by the shack asking great questions about what we are doing and why. I shared a few tidbits about helping with repairs, low income struggles and sleeping in the shack. When I asked him where home was, he said Marianna, FL. I about fell out. You don’t hear that very often. I rattled off Riverside Elementary, Golson Elementary and Marianna Middle School. A significant amount of my childhood was spent in Marianna. Tyler, is hoping to get into Auburn’s forensic science discipline. Loving to work with his hands, he signed up to get more info about ARM and our upcoming service days! That’s what I love about staying out here!

As we close out today, it has been challenging and inspiring raising the funds we need this year. The uncertainties created by Covid-19 make it hard to give. This is a :rainy day” and a time many of us have to conserve. Even the gift of time is limited because of the pandemic. I was pondering a service day on Veterans Day in November and to reach out to our retired community; and then quickly remembered that can’t work. Therefore, I am inspired by all who have contributed and checked in! Thank you!

We understand and we trust that God will provide for our needs and your needs. He will see us through. A friend of mine visited with me this morning and we discussed trust and trusting God.A story that came to mind was when I and ARM were going through a very difficult time in many ways including financially. We were perplexed by some big decisions and I was carrying a ton of stress, not sure what to do. As my dog stopped to sniff around a corner road sign, I looked down at my feet. Next to my shoe was a small, wooden pocket cross. I bent down and picked it up, pressed the smooth wood into my hands and smiled.Slipping the cross into my pocket, I thanked God for his simple reminder, for His providence and presence. I did not know the next step, but I knew God would be with me.

I find that true now. I don’t know some of the next steps but can trust that God will be with me. He will provide for our needs financially and will continue paving the way for us to serve our families, to serve the people he created! I pray you sense this trust as well no matter what you are facing even if not Covid-19 related.

Thanks again if you have given! Again, I am very much inspired by your faithfulness and generosity. We will run the shack through Nov. 1st so if you have not had a time to give and still praying through that, you still have time. Pledges are perfectly fine as well. If you are local to Auburn, we would love to have you come join us on Saturday, Nov. 14th for our final service day of 2020.
