Thank you all so much for sponsoring our Sonshine Kids Day Camp this year! The campers were able to spend every day learning Bible stories in a new and fun way. Their theme of “Wade in the Water” came to life! They made crafts, sang songs, and learned something new throughout the summer. Most of all, the campers were able to share in the love of Christ with the staff, the youth teams, and with one another for an entire summer.
They practice their reading and writing skills over the summer through their Bible lessons and letters to sponsors. They also practiced their math and other educational skills. The kids got the chance to have a pool day once a week and they absolutely loved it. This year we also got the chance to take both groups on a field trip to The Birmingham Zoo. It was such a fun day filled with seeing and learning about different animals. Music and physical recreation were a big part of their summer as well.
Sonshine Kids Day Camp ended with a closing summer celebration. The day campers’ families attended a potluck supper with a chance to see the children perform and share some of the things they learned. The slide show gives you a glimpse of what the camp has meant to the kids and the staff that has loved on them. What a blessing! .
