Opportunities & Serve Days

Saturday, October 3 at 7:00 AM (Meet at Cornerstone Church)

Alabama Rural Ministry is partnering with TheWay2Serve for home repair across Lee and Macon Counties. Join us in continued efforts to improve the home of our neighbors in Auburn/Tuskegee.

Below describes the types of repairs we are completing:
Neighbor Penny: We are completing her floor by laying vinyl tile and installing trim. We can teach you this process.
Neighbor Amos: Weather permitting, we’ll install a final ridge vent on his roof and cover with shingles. Interior work includes hanging/attaching new drywall/wallboard to wall studs.

You do not need any experience and we can teach you the process.
At both homes, you will have opportunities to talk with the homeowners, get to know their story and pray with them.

Friday, October 16 5p-9p

Bring your family and friends to Opelika’s Food Truck Friday and get Momma Mocha’s famous “crack” drink at the Shack. At the shack, you’ll get to meet Momma Mocha and partake of her special drink. We’ll have food items for the kiddos, games, activities, and more! You can learn about ways to extend an arm of love through home repair and service in our community. Food Truck Friday launches our 19th Annual No More Shacks: Heal the Home effort. Let’s work together to serve our most vulnerable neighbors and make their homes warm, safe, and dry.

Thursday, October 22 — Tuesday, October 27

Click below to learn more about our effort to repair homes for 25-40 families this year by living in shacks in downtown Auburn. Come join us in the movement to make homes warm, safe, and dry and extend hope!

Churches and businesses can sponsor one of our family homes to underwrite the repairs:

  • Heal the Home: Full Repair $10,000
  • Raise the Roof: $7000
  • Fix the Floor: $5000
  • Cool the Crib: $2500
Saturday, November 7 8a-4p

Open to the public. Come help us make another home warm, safe, dry, and beautiful!

We’ll meet at The Foundry United Methodist Church (200 N. 26th Street Opelika) for a delicious breakfast from Chick-fil-A, devotion, and then go out to serve. As we get closer, we’ll have details about the types of repairs needed. This will be our last serve day of the Fall Semester.
