It’s been a busy few weeks at the Tuskegee Mission Hub! With the help of several teams of volunteers, we’ve been making some great improvements as we prepare to host over 2oo volunteers from 11 churches this summer with youth mission camp.

Church of the Highlands Auburn Bunk Bed Team!

Church of the Highlands Auburn Bunk Bed Team!

What’s been keeping us busy? Bunk beds! And not just any ol’ bunk beds either. We’re building triple-level bunk beds to make the best use of bunk room space at the Mission Hub. Jeremiah created the design himself and even put together an IKEA-style manual for building them! Friends from Church of the Highlands got us started with 3 bunks on April 2nd. Last weekend on April 16 we added 5 more with the help of our friends from the Auburn Wesley Foundation, Auburn’s CADC Ambassadors, and an Auburn UMC Dgroup! We hope to build 7 or 8 more this Saturday, April 23rd, during our Cycle of Service work day. We’re excited for our summer mission teams to try them out!

We’ve also been busy in the kitchen! The room has been prepped for the installation of new tile. In a few weeks, we’ll be adding a new dishwasher and stove/oven. The cabinets are also set to get a fresh coat of paint. We can’t wait to be back in the kitchen with our teams preparing meals together!

Finally, we’re putting on some finishing touches in the hallways and the back bunk room. Things like floor molding, chair rail molding, window molding, and door stops. It’s all coming together!

One of the next big projects at the Hub will be the “bath house.” The large room across the hall from the bunk rooms will be divided in half to provide a men’s and women’s shower room. We’ll be installing 6 showers total with sinks, vanities, and storage space as well. For now, our Tuskegee youth mission camp teams will make use of the Alabama West Florida Conference’s disaster relief shower trailer!

Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to prepare a place for our mission teams in Tuskegee, as well as a place for the community to see God’s kingdom on display! We can’t do this without our friends like you, so we hope you’ll join us for a day of service, donate towards financial costs, and keep us in your prayers.
